Oh, what can I say about today's eight-miler. It wasn't the best run I've ever had, that's for sure.
I took off too soon after eating breakfast so my oatmeal and granola bar felt like a giant brick rolling around in my stomach.
I slipped on some ice around a quarter mile from my house and came down hard on my left knee. It throbbed the entire run.
But ultimately, my head wasn't in the game and I just couldn't get into my zone. I had to stop a couple of times just to mentally regroup and convince myself that I could continue.
Well, anyway, I made it through, came home and took a two hour nap.
Totals for the week: 18.09 miles @ 10:31
Next week is a cut-back week, 14 total miles with a long run of six.

I've got three back-to-back runs in the bag this week. I'm pooped. Friday's a day off, then it's eight on Saturday. Here's hoping for above-zero temps.

After spending yesterday afternoon with the cold sweats and barfing, I finally conquered the food poisoning demon that invaded my body. I only ate three things for lunch - pineapple, cottage cheese and an apple - so one of them was the culprit. I threw them all away, just to be on the safe side. Bye-bye $10.
Anyway, I recovered enough by dinner time to prepare Josh's birthday cake (Happy Birthday Joshie!). He requested a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. I had this big elaborate plan to make everything from scratch, but had to resort to a box mix and frosting out of a can because I still wasn't feeling healthy enough to put forth the effort into all that rigmarole.
Thanks Betty Crocker!
